London South Bank University (LSBU) is a creative, vibrant, and diverse university with an established track-record of delivering high quality practical filmmaking courses that combine academic rigour with the latest industry and entrepreneurial skills to enable students to build a flourishing career in the film and media industry. LSBU have been teaching film and video production since 2002 and continue to invest and grow our offer to ensure the successful outcomes for our students. We are proud to be accredited by CILECT- The International Association of Film and Television Schools, a network of the world’s most prestigious film schools.
We are situated in the heart of London, a short distance away from our educational partner, the British Film Institute (BFI) and Soho’s production and post-production houses. Our central London location ensures we have fantastic relationships with a wide range of internationally renowned creative industry partners on our doorstep and we work with some of the capital’s major film institutions to offer students a range of opportunities from networking to internships.
Our staff are expert practitioners and researchers with extensive knowledge of the ever-changing film landscape and students are taught in our multi-million-pound studio facilities and use the very latest industry standard equipment including 4k and Arri cameras and state-of-the-art editing suites.
We are an enterprising university, and our students have the opportunity to join our internal production company, The South Bank Collective, gaining paid work experience to produce creative and corporate work for internal and external clients. Our student films screen around the world at leading festivals and have picked up multiple awards at leading festivals such as Learning on Screen and the Royal Television Society in London as well as winning Best Short at the National RTS Awards.
