International student journey
We've set out the journey of an international applicant, so you can see how the process works at a glance
At LSBU we're dedicated to helping you every step of the way towards becoming a student, and during your time at the University. We've broken down the application process into separate, simple stages, so you can quickly and easily see what needs to be done next.
- Step 1 mouse-pointer
Submit your application
Our online application form makes it easy for you to apply for your course of choice. It’s important that you get your application to study with us in good time, especially if you need to apply for a visa. See our How to apply section for more information.
- Step 2 file-text-o
If you do not meet all the requirements, you will be made a conditional offer. These conditions might be academic (such as a qualification), or you may need to show that you meet the required standard of English. If you meet all the necessary criteria, you may be sent an unconditional offer.
- Step 3 check-square-o
Accepting your offer and payment
You will need to accept the offer by following the instructions given in your offer letter or by following instructions via UCAS/UKPASS. You will usually be expected to make a deposit payment towards your tuition fees if you require a Tier 4 visa which is usually not refundable (Terms and Conditions will be stated in your unconditional offer letter).
- Step 4 users
Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies
Once we’ve received a deposit payment we will ask you to start the pre-CAS process (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) which involves sending us the supporting documents for your Tier 4 (General) visa application and usually a pre-CAS interview. See Visas and immigration for more information about the process. It is important for you to start preparing for this as early as possible.
- Step 5 pencil-square-o
Applying for your visa
You should allow plenty of time to apply for your visa. UK Visas and immigration can give you further advice on processes and timelines. Our Immigration and International Student Advice Team can help you with each stage of the visa process.
- Step 6 thumbs-o-up
Welcome to LSBU
We look forward to welcoming you to LSBU! Your next stage is enrolment. We also run an airport pickup service and a full welcome programme for all our new students. More information can be found on our international new students pages.
