We offer quality gym facilities, services and programmes to LSBU students, staff and the community. There is a 50+ station Fitness Suite, equipped with Technogym Mywellness Technology for better performance monitoring and progression, as well as a selection of Free Weights including dumbbells from 2.5kg – 50kg and 5 Multi-Purpose Olympic Rack.
The gym also provides therapy services, personal fitness programmes and Personal Training, as well as an extensive Group Exercise Studio Timetable

UKCSI Business Benchmark Survey
- The Accommodation Service has received a Service Mark accreditation from the Institute of Customer Service, in recognition of its excellent customer service provision for students.
We have been awarded several titles and achievements:
- A score of 84.5% in the UKCSI Business Benchmark Survey for UK customer satisfaction
- A provisional score of Good/Excellent (73%) in Sport England's Quest Assessment
- A score of 182 in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) table
- A Net Promoter Score of 90.42% (compared to an average, for comparative facilities, of 38%)
- Winner of the London FA Recreational Football Partner Award
- More than 500 student sports team members
- Receipt of official Ofsted registration
Paralympics star
- Ashley Facey-Thompson, who is studying Sports Coaching and Analysis BSc (Hons) at LSBU, has been selected to compete in the Table Tennis, Class 9 Individual and 9-10 team at the Rio Paralympics 2016. This is a huge milestone for the 21-year-old, who made his international debut in 2009 and won his first National title in 2014. Find out more about Ashley at the Paralympics.
Sports clubs
LSBU Sports Clubs are run by students, for students, and have qualified coaches to help with performance and development. Students are given the opportunity to represent the University in student competitions in almost every kind of sport including athletics and rowing. Human Performance Centre
The Human Performance Centre provides sport science support and services to elite athletes, corporate clients and members of the public. Our support services include biomechanics, physiology, sports psychology and nutrition. It also works closely with research academics in our School of Applied Sciences.
Sports Scholarships
The Sports Scholarships Programme supports talented sportsmen and women with their sporting, academic and personal lives. The programme is one of the largest for a UK University and offers a wide range of help, including financial and academic.

We constantly audit and review our work through accreditation with the following governing bodies.
The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS)
All of LSBU Active's staff are active members of REPS. They are qualified to the national standard and regularly attend accredited courses to continue their professional development. For further information visit the Registers of Exercise Professionals.
The Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI)
The IFI programme supports the fitness industry to become more inclusive and awarded LSBU Active 'Registered' status. We are now listed with 380 IFI marked accredited facilities working with the English Federation of Disability Sport to ensure disabled people can be active in their local area. UK Quality Scheme for Sport and Leisure (QUEST)

Fitness Industry Association (FIA)
LSBU Active is also a member of UK Active, the representative body for the UK health and fitness sector. For further information visit the UK Active.
European Network of Academic Sports Services (ENAS)
LSBU Active is an active member of ENAS. The network is a sharing platform for European further and higher education providers to share best practice, ideas, and updates on innovation within the sector. It also promotes health and wellbeing. ENAS ensures LSBU Active is on the cutting edge of development within sport at a European level.
ZONES is our learning environment transformation programme and one of the biggest and most exciting projects in LSBU's history. It will affect how we think, feel and study, and will revolutionise the student experience.
We will have improved sports facilities including a modern and fully equipped gym, more space for students and staff to play and train, as well as an increase in useful facilities, such as showers, changing rooms and fitness areas.
