Pride in our staff & students

It’s Pride season and as in-person activities are back it’s time to celebrate. We’re excited to be attending several events over the coming months and we can’t wait to meet you all.

For us, Pride is a great opportunity to show our commitment to, and our pride in, all our LGBTQ+ staff and students across our family of institutions. including the university, South Bank Colleges and our academies.

It’s also another chance for LSBU to let every one of our future students and employees know that we’re the place for you. Making education accessible is at our very core and we proudly stand against homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, and any form of discrimination, as we strongly believe there should be no barriers to brilliance.

We want to continue to provide an environment where you have access to opportunity; where you can rise higher than you ever thought possible, where you feel that you belong and where you can become the best version of yourself. Whether you’re interested in working or studying with us, we’ll be supporting you, your success, and your goals all the way.

Come and see us at one of the following Pride events:

Out for Sport – 10 June

Essex Pride – 25 June

Pride in London – 2 July

London Trans+ Pride – 9 July

Croydon PrideFest – 16 July

UK Black Pride – 14 August

Life at LSBU

Location is everything and our city-campus in South London is the perfect place to study. We’re surrounded by the world’s biggest industries, and still offer our students a real community vibe, with plenty of shared spaces to learn and unwind. Not to mention having some of the capital’s rich history and culture right on our doorstep. We run open days throughout the year so you can come and see for yourself, take a campus tour and meet our talented academics and students – we hope to see you there.

Southwark isn’t our only base; we also have campuses in Havering and Croydon teaching a range of health and businesses courses, as well as our LSBU Group colleges and academies located across south London.

Our colleagues are very community focused and our EPIIC values - Excellence, Professionalism, Integrity, Inclusivity & Creativity - were co-designed with staff. They run through all aspects of LSBU and sit at the very heart of our work. EPIIC guides us to be the employer and educator we want to be, one that is people-centred and allows our staff to thrive.

Our staff networks and other activities also make LSBU a great place to work! We have networks for our LGBTQ+ staff as well as race equality, gender equality, disability, and parents & carers each delivering a range of events, activities and projects throughout the year. We’re also committed to becoming a menopause friendly workplace.
