Student employability and real-world courses

LSBU has been named the number one modern university in London for graduate employment (Complete University Guide 2013). Our teaching is practice informed, with most staff connected to their relevant profession. Many courses offer work experience opportunities and our careers service comes with workplace preparation and career development advice. 81% of our employed graduates are in 'graduate level' jobs (Sunday Times University Guide 2012). Study options are flexible and all our courses are accredited or developed alongside the industry's leading professional bodies. Here are some of our affiliations:

I graduated with a First class degree and was the President of the Accounting and Finance Student Society at LSBU. Now I'm in Kumming China on a Chinese Government Scholarship to study Chinese Language. I've already been offered a full-time position with Bloomberg after my internship and will be starting with them in September 2012.

Inspiring location

Our main campus is in the heart of London, minutes from the entertainment buzz of bars, restaurants and club, plus many of the city's world-renowned galleries, theatres, museums and attractions. Sitting on a major public transportation hub, we're easy to reach and unlike many sprawling city centre universities, our major campus buildings are compactly located – see our map. Some of our Faculty of Health and Social Care students are based at our LSBU at Havering campus next to partner Trust hospitals where they take their placements.

Facilities and campus investment

Whatever the course, we have the facilities to fully support it. Whether our students are in our research and skills laboratories, workshops, media centre, theatre, library or Learning Resources Centre we offer them the appropriate technologies and expert support to complete their experience. We're committed to first-class facilities and have already invested £50m in student buildings and learning spaces over the last few years. We're continuing these campus developments by opening our Student Centre in Autumn 2012 and Enterprise Centre in 2013.
