Before you arrive
Starting university is an exciting time. To make sure you get off to the best start, complete our checklist of things you should do before you arrive. Then you can enjoy your first week, meeting new people and joining your course induction.
Complete the Consent Matters e-learning:
It's really important to us that LSBU is a safe and respectful community. It's important that you know how to confidently communicate about consent, and know how to safely intervene if you notice someone being treated disrespectfully. This is why all students are expected to complete the Consent Matters E-learning before arriving.
It takes about an hour in total, but you don't have to complete it in one sitting. It's hosted on the Virtual Learning Environment, Moodle, which requires your to use your LSBU login. This means you'll need to have completed your online enrolment before accessing the course. Technology
We will provide you with free software to support your studies, so check the software list before buying your own personal copies.
You should download the myLSBU app before you arrive. As well as giving you access to a huge range of services and information, you will need it to check-in to classes. Before you enrol, you can sign in as a New Student but can switch to the full Student profile once you have enrolled.
If you want to brush up on your digital skills before you start, our Digital Skills Centre has a number of courses available at low cost.
Planning to work part-time?
If you are planning to work part-time while studying, our Employability Team can help you. LSBU Employment is our own professional temporary recruitment service linking students with top UK employers. You can sign up even before you have enrolled.
Plan your finances
We know that managing your money while you're studying can be hard. That's why we're here with advice and support to help you get on top of all your money matters - from fees and funding, money management, maximizing your income, to welfare and benefits advice, our expert team are waiting.
Prepare to Study on our Study Ready Programme
The Study Ready Programme will help you prepare for study at university level, allowing you to begin your course prepared and confident that you have the initial skills you need to succeed. Sessions will take place online in January and are free to join.
Choose from lessons on academic writing and practices, information and digital skills, essential maths and statistics, and language for academic study.
Come to as many or as few sessions as you like. You can find more information and register to secure your place.

Start making friends and connections
You don't need to wait for your first day to start to meet people. Break the ice and make friends ahead of September by joining our online community.

Prepare for your first Week
Your course induction takes place during your first week at LSBU. This is an essential part of your course where you will be introduced to your course team, lecturers, school staff and – most importantly – your peers on your course.
As well as your course induction, there will be lots of other activities on campus that you can get involved in as part of our welcome programme.
