Before arriving, you’ll need to complete an induction which has key information about Halls as well as the support available to you. If you have an offer, you’ll be able to do this by logging into your accommodation account which is accessible at the link below. You must also complete this induction to book your arrival slot.
Another good thing to do before arriving is to register for your FREE contents insurance included in your accommodation! This is provided through Howden for Students who provide insurance and so much more:
- Arrival dates differ depending on your contract length. For the 2026/2027 academic year:
- 48-week contracts start on 5th September 2026
- 39-week contracts start on 12th September 2026
- Once you have completed your online induction, use the link in your accommodation portal to book an arrival slot. This is to ensure that we are ready for you and helps to manage site traffic.
- On your arrival day, please make your way to reception to collect your keys.
- When transporting belongings to your room, please do not overload the lifts. This could lead to getting stuck.
Please refer to the LSBU Website link below for tips and journey planners to either of our accommodation sites:
Please note: if you are travelling by car, both of our Halls of Residence are within the TFL congestion zone and Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), so charges may be applicable on both. The TFL website provides up to date information on current charges and how to pay. See the links below for more information:
McLaren House:
- There are 20 car park spaces available. You have a 30-minute time slot from arrival to collect keys and unload your belongings to your room. The time slot is booked at the end of completing your induction.
David Bomberg House:
- The parking area can only facilitate 4 cars at one time, with a 30-minute limit from arriving.
- Due to the limited spaces, not all arrivals will gain access to the onsite car park. On-street parking may require parking fees.

- Please note: We do not accept cash or American Express.
More information about residence fee payments can be found in the ‘Payments’ section of the accommodation website.

Top Tips
- Remember you are arriving in September, so leave the summer beach gear at home and think more of an Autumn/ Winter wardrobe.
- Remember all your ID and import documents as you will need these throughout your student journey.
- Keep in mind that your room is only so big and storage is limited – don't overpack.
- Go food shopping once you have had a chance to check out the available cupboard and Fridge/ Freezer space. You should have 1 cupboard, and 1 shelf in the Fridge and Freezer.
Understanding your health needs
It is important for us to understand the health needs of our students. This is so that we can make sure that you are well supported throughout your studies and university life. With this knowledge and your permission, we can identify any actions needed to support you. If this applies to you, please email the Accommodation Team so that we can ensure you have the right support throughout your student journey.
Wellbeing (Thrive)
Thrive
We are a listening service for our students in halls; you can contact us about anything on your mind or of concern to you. We listen, we care, we support.
THRIVE is a friendly and approachable team that provides wellbeing support, whilst you live your life in halls. We approach wellbeing holistically, recognizing that there are many elements that contribute to good health and positive mental wellbeing.
Coming to university is exciting and can sometimes be unsettling. We can reassure you that we are prepared for your arrival, and you can trust that we understand what it may be like for you at this time.
THRIVE supports you in a non-judgmental way:
- You are free to talk, your voice will be heard.
- Supporting your wellbeing needs – no issue is too big or small.
- Helping you to manage your wellness.
- Help you learn more about our wellbeing services at university and signpost you to specialist support if required.
- Celebrate You! Committed to equality, diversity, and valuing that we are all different, with unique individual needs.
- We will not tell you what to do, we believe people should be able to find a solution that works best for them.

Express yourself freely on Togetherall:
Starting university is exciting and can also be overwhelming. However you’re feeling, you don’t have to go through this change on your own. Sometimes, we don’t want to talk to people about it and that’s okay. Try expressing how you feel on Togetherall, an anonymous online community. You can sign up for free with your LSBU email address, as well as find out more information through the FAQ button below.
Consent Matters:
Everyone has a part to play in keeping our halls and campus safe. We want you to feel confident recognising and talking about consent, and knowing how to look out for each other. That’s why we expect you to complete the free, interactive ‘Consent Matters’ course on Moodle (you’ll have to have enrolled to have access to this).
Notice something disrespectful? Let us know about it on Report & Support:
We take the safety of the LSBU community seriously. If you notice or experience any form of harassment, sexual violence, hate, bullying, domestic abuse or discrimination, please log it on Report & Support.
