Entry requirements

We accept a range of English language qualifications (PDF File 85 KB). Please contact the international office for further details.

Foundation course requirements

  • West African Senior School Certificate (WASSC) with C6 or above in at least 5-6 subjects (including: English Language and Maths)
  • English requirements are as follows: IELTS 4.5 or equivalent

Undergraduate course requirements

To apply for an undergraduate course at LSBU you need to have one of the following:

  • a suitable UK foundation course (60% minimum)
  • International Baccalaureate, (24 Points or above)
  • A Level (Cambridge Overseas) at a suitable level
  • a national diploma (in a suitable subject), lower or upper credit required depending on course applied for
  • Higher National Diploma with lower credit or upper credit depending on LSBU course applied for.
  • completed Year one (Level 100) of a relevant Bachelors Degree from a recognised university in Ghana. Marks/GPA should be at a suitable level.
  • IELTS 6.0 or equivalent

Year two undergraduate entry

  • HND with lower or upper credit depending on course applied for
  • successfully completed year one and two (Level 100 and Level 200) of a relevant Bachelors Degree from a recognised university in Ghana. Marks/GPA should be at a suitable level and
    the subjects must be a good match to the LSBU degree programme applied for.
  • English requirements are as follows: IELTS 6.0 or equivalent

Postgraduate course requirements

To apply for a postgraduate course at LSBU you need to have the following:

  • Bachelors Degree four or five years in a suitable subject from a recognised university in Ghana. The majority of courses require a minimum grade of Second Class Honours Lower Division.
  • English requirements are as follows: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent

How to apply

The process to apply for a course varies to whether you study as an undergraduate or postgraduate student. You should also find out how to apply for any available scholarships.

Visa information

As a Ghanaian national you will need to obtain a student visa or equivalent to be able to study with us at LSBU. The main route for students to come to the UK to study is the General student visa.
