17 July 2013

Thousands of students have studied at LSBU Confucius Institute which is the worlds first for Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The delegation chose to visit the university because of the high level of activity and achievements at our Confucius Institute over the last five years.

Lara Martin, Deputy Director of LSBU's Confucius Institute

Li Changchun met with Martin Earwicker, LSBU's Vice-Chancellor as well as many other senior figures from within the University including Professor Judith Ellis, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Social Care.

Li Changchun presented LSBU with a gift of a digital library of all Chinese classics and philosophical works, covering the country's 5,000 years of civilization, which will serve as a great resource for our students.

During Li Changchun's visit he also observed Ian Appleyard, Senior Lecturer and Course Director, train students in acupuncture as part of our Chinese Medicine: Acupuncture programmes.

Li Changchun said: "The Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine integrates closely language learning, vocational education and cultural experience. Students here can not only study for a vocational qualification which is useful for their employment, but also contribute to a larger cultural exchange that will bring our respective people closer together.

If you would like to find out more about the acupuncture programmes please contact Ian Appleyard Course Director and Senior Lecture via email or on 0207 815 8014.
