Wayne Wright, Honorary Fellowship of South Bank Colleges
Wayne has dedicated over 30 years to advancing further and technical education in the UK, culminating in his role as Principal of London South Bank Technical College (LSBTC) since 2022.
Wayne Wright is a dedicated public servant who has worked across a range of further education colleges and government departments focused on education and skills and has had a direct impact in supporting young people and adults to access education including many furthest from the sector. Through his work as the 14-19 partnership lead at Croydon Council, his work with HM Prison Service and his work with the Learning and Skills Council Wayne has truly enabled 1,000s to benefit from the education opportunities further education provides.
Wayne has been instrumental in forging strong partnerships with employers and London South Bank University, ensuring pathways from technical education to higher education and employment. His vision and strategic leadership have left a lasting impact on the sector, shaping inclusive, future-focused education for thousands of learners
His tenure at LSBTC has been marked by transformative achievements. Most notably, he oversaw the successful launch of the first in a generation new technical college, the state-of-the-art facility features purpose-built laboratories and workshops for robotics, construction, and dental technology, and was developed to address national skills shortages in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM).
Wayne has championed employer partnerships and curriculum innovation, ensuring that students gain real-world experience and industry-relevant qualifications. His strategic leadership has led to improved student outcomes, the introduction of T Levels, and the development of pioneering programmes in collaboration with multinational companies.
His contributions have shaped the future of technical and vocational education in London and beyond providing pathways to opportunity for all.
