Why did you choose to study International Marketing at LSBU?
I chose to study International Marketing at LSBU because I wanted a programme that combined strong academic foundations with practical, real-world exposure. With my background in Entrepreneurship and Business Management, I wanted to deepen my understanding of global markets, consumer behaviour, and digital branding skills that are becoming essential today. LSBU’s focus on applied learning, real industry case studies, and the internship pathway made it the perfect match for my career goals.
Why did you choose LSBU as an international student?
As an international student, LSBU stood out to me because of its diverse and welcoming environment. The university has a strong reputation for supporting international students both academically and personally. I also appreciated LSBU’s central London location, which gives me access to one of the biggest business and marketing hubs in the world. The affordability, friendly staff, and clear guidance through the admission and visa process also influenced my decision.
Can you tell us about any placement or internship opportunities you've had?
Yes. My programme includes an internship pathway, and LSBU provides strong support in helping students secure placements. I currently work at Angel Global Call Centre, where I handle customer engagement, CRM system management, external partnership engagement, and various marketing-related tasks. This role has helped me apply what I learn in class, especially digital marketing, branding, and consumer communication, directly in a real organisation. It has strengthened my skills, given me more confidence, and expanded my professional experience in the UK.
How is LSBU preparing you for your career?
LSBU prepares me through a blend of theory and practical learning. Most modules involve real business scenarios, group discussions, presentations, and hands-on coursework. My lecturers encourage critical thinking, creativity, and strategic problem-solving. The university also offers career workshops, CV support, and one-to-one guidance to prepare us for job opportunities. Being able to combine classroom learning with my internship has made me feel ready for roles in marketing, brand management, and international business.
What networking opportunities have you experienced at LSBU (guest lecturers/events etc.)?
I’ve benefitted from several networking opportunities, including guest lectures from marketing professionals, industry events, and seminars where we engage with people working in branding, digital marketing, and international business. LSBU regularly invites industry speakers and encourages students to participate in events where we can build networks, ask questions, and understand how the industry operates. These experiences have helped me broaden my perspective and meet people who inspire my career journey.
Can you tell us about the academic support?
The academic support at LSBU has been very helpful. Lecturers are approachable and always willing to guide us, especially when we need help understanding assignments or improving our work. We also have access to the library team, writing support, and online resources to help with research and academic writing. Whenever I needed clarification or extra feedback, I could book sessions easily, and the support has contributed a lot to my confidence and performance.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking about an MSc in International Marketing?
My advice is to go for it with an open mind. The programme is practical, engaging, and very relevant to today’s marketing world. Be ready to participate, ask a lot of questions as you can lol, and apply what you learn. Also, make use of the networking opportunities, career services, and academic support available. Most importantly, balance your studies with real experience if you can, whether through part-time work, volunteering, or an internship. It will make your learning journey richer and prepare you for global marketing roles.
