Nicole McIntosh - Honorary Doctorate of the University (DUniv)
Nichole McIntosh, is a nationally recognized leader in nursing and healthcare, currently serving as Regional Head of Nursing and Midwifery for Workforce, Training and Education for NHS England (London). With over two decades of experience, she has held senior leadership roles shaping workforce development, clinical governance, and equitable care delivery. Nichole has driven innovation in nursing practice, embedding person-centred care, staff wellbeing, and inclusive professional development across NHS settings.
Her strategic leadership includes Assistant Director of Nursing roles where she advanced patient experience, co-produced Trust Patient Experience Strategies with Healthwatch, and implemented national quality and safety guidance. Her initiatives, such as introducing End PJ Paralysis, dementia and end-of-life care champions, and patient feedback systems, have improved care outcomes and staff engagement, earning recognition including a Healthwatch England award nomination.
Nichole is a passionate advocate for anti-racism and inclusion in nursing. She co-leads “Student Nurses Talk,” a platform amplifying voices of ethnically minoritized students, helping drive systemic change and inspire over
5,000 student nurses. She delivered LSBU’s 2023 Dame Elizabeth Anionwu lecture on inclusivity, attracting nurses, policymakers, and community stakeholders.
Founder of Maroon Mindset Unlimited, Nichole promotes diversity, equity, and cultural safety. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a prolific keynote speaker, podcaster, and blogger, and has contributed widely to nursing publications and forums.
An alumna of London South Bank University, Nichole is deeply engaged in mentoring emerging nurses, fostering leadership development, and shaping the future of healthcare. Her nomination for an Honorary Doctorate recognizes her outstanding leadership, transformative impact, and tireless advocacy for equity, inclusion, and excellence in nursing.
