LSBU architecture students celebrate success at the RIBA London Student Awards 2025

London South Bank University (LSBU) is proud to celebrate the achievements of four outstanding Architecture students who have been recognised at the RIBA London Student Awards 2025 - a prestigious annual celebration of emerging talent across the capital.

The awards highlight the exceptional creativity, technical ability and critical thinking fostered within LSBU’s architecture programmes. This year, LSBU students secured first and second prizes at both BA and MArch levels, demonstrating the strength of the University’s approach to practice-based, socially engaged architectural education.

Held by the RIBA South West London Architects Group, the event brought together students, practitioners and industry leaders. Speakers included John Nahar, RIBA London Regional Director, Dhruv Gulabchande, Associate Director at HFM Architects and Narrative Practice, and RIBA President Chris Williamson, who reaffirmed RIBA’s commitment to supporting those studying and entering the profession. Their reflections echoed the award-winning students’ own focus on designing for community, inclusivity and real-world impact - core themes that underpin architectural teaching at LSBU.

Outstanding Achievements from LSBU Students

BA Architecture

First Prize – Harry Flack
Harry’s project demonstrated a strong grasp of the brief, showcasing a well-developed design process rooted in contextual awareness and user needs. His beautifully composed and technically assured drawings communicated the evolution of the project with clarity, depth and architectural integrity.

Second Prize – Bethany Norris
Bethany impressed the jury with a rigorous, analytical approach and a refined, sensitive design response. Her use of precedents was thoughtful and purposeful, while her exceptional section drawings revealed a deep understanding of light, space and structure.

MArch Architecture

First Prize – Daniel Gill
Daniel received the MArch First Prize for Wefan, a weaving workshop concept praised for its maturity, ambition and conceptual richness. His carefully composed drawings and atmospheric visualisations captured the material and narrative qualities at the heart of the project. Wefan also served as the concluding project of his Part 2 studies at LSBU.

Second Prize – Sahba Zargari
Sahba’s poetic and socially grounded proposal stood out for its elegant execution and strong cultural narrative. Her meticulous drawings and visualisations demonstrated a refined design sensibility and a powerful understanding of architecture as storytelling.
