Kelly Gilloran- Resilience Speaker and Transformational Coach
Tell us about your business.
I am a public speaker specialising in mental health, addiction, resilience, self‑esteem, and stress management. My talks combine lived experience with practical tools, giving audiences honest, relatable insights into how to navigate some of life’s toughest challenges.
I work with schools, universities, organisations, and community groups to create safe, impactful spaces where people can learn, reflect, and build confidence. My sessions are known for being real, engaging, and grounded in both personal story and evidence‑based strategies.
Whether I’m speaking to young people or professionals, my goal is always the same: to empower people to understand themselves better and to build the resilience they need to move forward.
Share the problem/need you are looking to address and how your business meets this need.
There is a growing need for authentic conversations about resilience and mental health—conversations that go beyond statistics and theory. Many people feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to cope with life’s challenges, and organisations often struggle to provide support that feels genuine and practical.
My work addresses this by offering real‑world resilience tools, grounded in lived experience and delivered with honesty, humour, and compassion. I help audiences understand how to navigate setbacks, manage pressure, and build confidence, while creating a safe space for reflection and growth. My value lies in making resilience feel accessible, human, and achievable for everyone.
What inspired your idea and business?
My journey into public speaking was inspired by my own lived experiences with adversity and the realisation that sharing my story could help others feel less alone. Over the years, I’ve seen how powerful it is when people hear someone speak openly about resilience, growth, and mental health.
I wanted to turn that into something purposeful—something that could create impact, spark conversations, and empower people to keep going, even when life feels heavy.
What has been the best part of your entrepreneurial journey?
The best part has been witnessing the impact. When someone comes up to me after a talk and says, “I really needed that,” or “I feel seen,” it reminds me why I do this. Building a career that aligns with my values, my story, and my mission has been incredibly rewarding. Every opportunity to speak is a chance to create change, and that’s what keeps me energised.
What advice would you give aspiring entrepreneurs just starting their journey?
Start before you feel ready. Clarity comes from action, not overthinking. Stay rooted in your purpose, stay authentic, and don’t be afraid to share your story—your lived experience is often your strongest asset.
Surround yourself with people who believe in your vision, and remember that progress is rarely linear. Keep going, even when it feels uncomfortable. That’s where the growth happens.
What support would be most beneficial for your business at this stage? What are you looking for help on?
Right now, I’m focused on expanding my reach and securing more speaking opportunities across education, corporate wellbeing, and community sectors. Support with introductions, referrals, and visibility—particularly through networks, alumni groups, and organisations aligned with mental health and resilience—would be incredibly valuable. I’m also building out my speaker bio, references, and promotional materials to strengthen my professional profile
