Isa Gaibee, Integrated Masters Chiropractic

Where are you from, and which course did you choose to study?
I moved to London from Birmingham, and the course that I studied was a Chiropractic course.
Why did you choose to study this subject area? Why did you decide on LSBU?
I decided to pursue chiropractic quite early on in Year 11. Before that, I had no clear idea of what I wanted to do. My dad, however, kept asking me regularly, “What do you want to be?” As a typical teenager, I did not have an answer, so I would say, “I don’t know” every time. Eventually, he started listing different careers whenever we were in the car together. Most of them did not appeal to me until he mentioned physiotherapy and chiropractic. Those two stood out. It was my dad who first suggested chiropractic, even though neither of us knew what it involved at the time. As I looked into it more, it began to resonate with me. I chose LSBU because there are only a few chiropractic programs in the UK, and LSBU’s central London location made it an attractive and accessible choice.
Putting my experience to good use
This might sound obvious, but what I love most about my course is how it makes me feel like I am becoming a chiropractor. It is exciting to be hands-on, learning to read X-rays, practising manipulations, and developing skills that I will use in the clinic. There is something incredibly satisfying about it, especially when a technique clicks or when I can see my progress. It is those moments that remind me why I chose this path in the first place.
Can you tell us about your lecturers and teaching experience?
My lecturers are incredible—consistently supportive and genuinely invested in our learning. Whether it is coursework or general challenges, they are always approachable and willing to help. If any issues come up, they make it a priority to address them and put us at ease, which makes a big difference in such an intense program.
Have you done a work placement or any work experience?
During my time at LSBU, I have had the opportunity to complete chiropractic placements both within the university and externally. In my first year, I was based at the LSBU Chiropractic Clinic, where I shadowed fourth-year chiropractic students and gained insight into the clinical environment. In my second year, I was fortunate enough to secure an external placement at Chiro London in Marylebone, which gave me valuable exposure to a professional setting beyond the university and helped broaden my practical understanding of the field.
What kind of career would you like to move into?
While I would like to specialise in chiropractic, my long-term goal is to pursue a more entrepreneurial path within the field. I am passionate about the clinical side, but I am also excited by the idea of building something of my own—whether that is opening a clinic, building a brand, or creating a service that brings chiropractic care to a wider audience.
Have you taken part in any extracurricular activities such as societies, sports or social clubs while being a student at LSBU?
While at LSBU, I have been fortunate to take part in sports alongside my studies. I currently serve as the Vice Captain of the Men’s First Football Team, and this role has been one of the highlights of my university experience. It has not only deepened my passion for sport but also helped me build strong friendships and expand my network within the university community.
What advice would you give to people thinking about studying at LSBU?
My best advice for anyone considering studying at London South Bank University is to make sure you do not get so caught up in university life that you forget to enjoy the city around you. LSBU is located in one of London’s most vibrant areas, giving you easy access to everything from cultural landmarks to great food and social spots. While your education is the main focus, it is just as important to make the most of your time here and enjoy the full experience that studying in central London has to offer.
