Adam Woodward - BA (Hons) Media Production

When Adam Woodward arrived at LSBU’s cutting-edge media studios, he knew he’d found his creative home. Immersed in hands-on learning and cross-disciplinary collaboration, he made the most of every opportunity—from producing content as a Student Ambassador to refining his craft in industry-standard spaces. Now working as a Podcast & Video Editor, Adam transforms ideas into compelling stories—proof that Media Production at LSBU is more than a degree. It’s where ambition meets action.

Why did you choose to study Media Production?

I chose to study Media Production as I wanted to develop my knowledge and skills from my time studying Media at the sixth form. I enjoy the creativity and expressive aspects of storytelling through visual media. The media industry is shifting every day, and it offers forms of versatility for learning and adapting to multiple media sectors. I also loved the collaboration and being able to collaborate with people from across the School using individual skill sets to support a project.

Why did you choose to join LSBU and not another university?

When I was researching universities and came across LSBU, I knew straight away I wanted to go and study there. It had the perfect mix of industry-standard elements in a Media Production course I was looking for, as well as its location and the extensive range of industry connections.

How did LSBU prepare you for your career?

Both the roles from the Careers Hub and guidance from industry experts helped me prepare for what the media industry requires from a new graduate, including portfolio websites, social media and CV reviews that enabled me to graduate with a clear original identity. I also worked closely with the Marketing team during my time as a Student Ambassador and helped to produce content aligned for new students.

What was the support like at LSBU?

I found the support to be highly beneficial whilst studying. There were a lot of pitching lectures where you share your current stages for a certain project or essay, and the feedback from both lecturers and peers really helped set out the groundwork for what the next steps of my execution would be. I also developed a lot of working relationships, due to my roles as both a Student and Course Ambassador at the University.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about studying Media Production?

My advice would be to recommend attending the University tours and seeing the facilities and studio spaces that can enhance and support your practical abilities on this course.

What have you been doing since you graduated from LSBU?

Since I graduated from LSBU, I have been working as a Podcast & Video Editor for two newly founded podcasts that have both seen success on audio platforms. I have also continued to develop my practical skills in several other client projects.
