Arts and Social Sciences specialist spaces constitute a large complex of industry-standard facilities that include the Elephant Studios at LSBU, the Edric Theatre and its rehearsal studios, the Keyworth Apple Mac Computer laboratories, Photography Centre, and XR research facility in the Hub.
These production and performance spaces ensure graduates have the best possible educational experience and employment outcomes in a fast-changing digital media landscape.
These spaces are designed for teaching and support a broad range of disciplines in the School of Arts and Social Sciences – mainly but not exclusively – Film and Television Practice, Media Production and Acting and Performance.
The Edric Theatre is a dedicated performance space with a reconfigurable 90-seat main house auditorium fitted with industry-standard lighting, sound and AV technologies. This is complimented by eight rehearsal studios for backstage facilities including a props workshop, props and sets stores and a wardrobe facility. Elephant Studios @LSBU is a Media facility that incorporates Film and Photography Studios with lighting rigs and green screen a fully equipped recording studio, a multimedia studio for video podcasting with broadcasting capability a post-production area including 7 edit suites and two grading suites, as well as a podcasting facility. Elephant Studios also, a Cinema-style Screening Room (Dolby 5.2), a dedicated photography and design print centre, a dedicated creative media Apple Mac suite and a well resource equipment kit room for students to borrow equipment related to their studies.
The XR Studio at London South Bank University offers a state-of-the-art motion capture and virtual production facility available for hire, equipped with the latest industry-grade technology to meet project needs for businesses looking to produce and prototype products that use virtual production and mixed reality frameworks.
