The Sustainability Steering Group is responsible for the oversight, development and ongoing monitoring of the University environmental and sustainability policies and strategy, and is led by the Provost. Its membership includes staff from across Schools and Professional Service Groups.
Dr Mifsud is a tutor in the Division of Social Sciences, School of Law and Social Sciences at London South Bank University (LSBU). She specialises in Environmental Education (EE) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
Professor Craig Barker is Dean of the School of Law and Social Sciences at London South Bank University (LSBU). A qualified Solicitor, Prof. Barker is an international legal expert on diplomatic immunity.
Ros is a specialist in research and scholarship in the area of education for sustainability (EfS). She chairs the London Regional Centre of Expertise in EfS and is a Research Fellow of the Schumacher Institute.
Arun Bhaskaran is Sustainability Representative for Student Services. He has strong interest in environmental issues and was instrumental in getting the London Borough of Newham to declare a climate emergency. Arun is currently looking into ways Student Services can play a more active role in sustainability and is open to ideas on how he can support the department in cutting their carbon footprint.
Tim Fransen is a Technical Tutor in Web Publishing & Design at London South Bank University. He is an experienced graphic designer specialising in software, hardware and systems associated with web and print-based media design and production.
Recent freelance projects include producing an open-access high-resolution version of a historic map of Essex (map-of-essex.uk) and ongoing work as web designer and editorial board member for the International Journal of Motorcycle Studies (motorcyclestudies.org).
Alongside freelance design activity, he has worked within a creative industries educational context for 25 years in academic, coordinator and technical support positions. He holds an MA in Graphic Design with distinction from University of the Arts London.
Additionally, he is an associate researcher at the Centre for the Study of the Networked Image (centreforthestudyof.net) and member of the Sustainability Steering Group at London South Bank University as well as local Councillor and Chair of the Climate Action Working Party in his hometown.
Hattie is the Vice President of Activities and Employability within London South Bank Student Union. She was elected by LSBU’s students for the 2019 to 2020 academic year. Her role covers a wide remit of student activity, engagement, and community. Sustainability is embedded into her role, and Hattie is the student voice for the Sustainability Steering Group at LSBU.
