Lucia Otoyo is Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Academic and Quality Assurance in the College of Technology and Environment at London South Bank University. She joined LSBU in 2013 and has since held a range of academic and leadership roles, including Subject Lead for Computing and Interim Director of Education and Student Experience.
A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Member of the British Computer Society, Lucia combines her academic work with her role as co-director of QuizSlides Ltd, a software and educational technology company. Her professional background in software project management, testing, and quality assurance underpins her commitment to innovation, inclusion, and industry relevance in higher education.
As Chair of the LSBU AI Working Group, Lucia leads institutional policy and practice around the ethical and effective use of Artificial Intelligence in teaching and assessment. Her interdisciplinary work has been recognised with the Advance HE Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) for the Law & Technology module, which brings together students from law and computing to design solutions for access to justice.
