Nominations for LSBU Group at multicultural apprenticeship awards
London South Bank University (LSBU) Group has received a strong set of nominations at one of the UK's leading celebrations of multicultural apprenticeship talent, including a place on the shortlist for University of the Year.
The Group has been nominated in four competitive categories at the 2026 Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards, testament to the breadth and quality of apprenticeship provision across the University and South Bank Colleges.
In the Engineering and Manufacturing category, Oliur Rahman (NTT Global Data Centers) and Subhaan Arshad (RCDC) are both shortlisted, while the Construction Services category features four nominees: Abigail Owolabi (Mott MacDonald), Christian Nondje Essoh Silva (Historic Royal Palaces), Meshal Fiaz (Multiplex London) and Nickel Innis (WSP in the UK and Ireland). Megan McCabe, based at Rhotic Media, is shortlisted for Creative, Media and Marketing Apprentice of the Year. Rhotic Media has also been recognised as a valued employer partner, earning a place on the shortlist for Small, Medium Employer of the Year.
Sammy Shummo, Group Director of Business Engagement, Skills and Training, said: "These nominations demonstrate the talent, commitment and resilience of our apprentices, the quality of support provided by our employer partners and the dedication of colleagues across LSBU and South Bank Colleges.
"Apprenticeships are central to our mission of widening access to opportunity, supporting social mobility and developing the skilled workforce needed by employers and communities."

The shortlisting builds on a strong track record at the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards. At last year's ceremony, LSBU architectural assistant apprentice Isha Ahmed was named overall Apprentice of the Year — selected from 152 shortlisted candidates across the UK — as well as taking the Construction Services category prize. Award judges praised her advocacy for diversity and mentorship as embodying "the transformative spirit of the Awards", and specifically commended LSBU for creating an environment where apprentices can thrive.
Now in its 10th year, the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards celebrate outstanding apprentices from diverse backgrounds alongside the employers and training providers that support them.
