LSBU projects shortlisted for national employability awards

10 April 2026

London South Bank University (LSBU) has been shortlisted in three categories at the Graduate Futures Institute Academic Employability Awards 2026, reflecting national recognition for its academic-led work to support student employability, inclusion and innovation.

The Academic Employability Awards recognise how universities embed employability within the curriculum through strong partnerships, inclusive approaches and innovative practice that help students prepare for their future careers.

Two LSBU projects have been nominated in the Employer and Community Partnerships category: the LSBU Energy Advice Centre, is a free public service staffed by LSBU engineering students and academic staff. Supported by Southwark Council, the centre provides tailored energy efficiency advice to London residents, helping households reduce energy costs while enabling students to gain practical experience in applying technical knowledge in real-world settings.

The other project nominated in this category is the Your Marketing Career, a module designed to help students navigate the marketing world. The module looks at a wide range of marketing careers open to students when they graduate, introducing them to former LSBU marketing students, recruiters, and practitioners from across the profession

The University’s Legal Advice Clinic is shortlisted in the Inclusive Employability Practices category. Based at LSBU’s Clarence Centre for Enterprise and Innovation the clinic supports local residents with a range of legal issues including housing, employment, family and welfare law. Through this work, students develop professional and employability skills as part of their degree while contributing to a service that delivers direct benefit to the local community.

LSBU is also shortlisted in the Technology in Employability category, recognising its use of digital tools to enhance student skills development. This includes the Career Skills Award, an initiative designed to help students build and evidence key employability skills alongside their academic studies.

The Graduate Futures Institute Academic Employability Awards are judged by experts from across higher education and industry, including LSBU’s Group CEO and Vice-Chancellor, Paul Kett, who is acting as Chair of the judging panel for this year's awards. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Thursday 30 April 2026 at the Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies in London.
