The Board of Governors of London South Bank University is delighted to welcome Jerry Cope as its new Chair. Jerry has been Vice-Chair of the Board for the past year. An experienced leader, he has held senior roles at organisations including the Post Office, Royal Mail and Camelot. He is currently Chair of the NHS Pay Review Body and of the leadership and change consultancy T-three. His experience of the HE sector is vast, having previously served for seven years as Chair of the Board of Governors at Kingston University.
Jerry Cope takes over the role of Chair of the Board of Governors from outgoing chair David Longbottom. David held the position for eight years, during which time he oversaw great change, including campus development with the openings of the Clarence Centre for Enterprise and Innovation, the K2 Building and the new Student Centre, as well as ensuring the University’s long-term sustainability.
Steve Balmont, Chair of Audit Committee said: “Over his eight years of service, David Longbottom has contributed greatly to securing the University’s sustainability for the long term and ensuring it continues to be relevant to students of the 21st century. The Board thanks him wholeheartedly for this work, and we are confident that in the appointment of Jerry Cope the good progress will continue. Jerry brings a wealth of experience to the Board and we look forward to working with him to continue to enhance the University’s educational environment and impact.”
