14 January 2016

London South Bank University (LSBU) has been voted one of the top places to work in the country in the Bloomberg Best Employers 2016 survey.

The list of Bloomberg Best Employers recognises the 400 best employers in the UK which have over 500 members of staff. It is drawn from an independent survey of 15,000 employees from all industry sectors, who were consulted regarding their willingness to recommend their employer to others.

LSBU was ranked as the 206th best employer in the country, and 20th best employer in the category of education. Other companies to make the list include Dyson, the BBC, British Airways, Oxfam and Unilever.

The Bloomberg Best Employer award follows the University’s accreditation as a London Living Wage employer and its membership of the Equality Challenge Unit’s Athena SWAN programme. LSBU is also a Stonewall Diversity Champion, which recognises LSBU as one of the best places to work in higher education for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people.

Ian Mehrtens, Chief Operating Officer at LSBU, commented: “At London South Bank University we want our staff to be creative and empowered to deliver in their roles, and we are continually working to provide an environment for this to happen. We are attracting and fostering the very best staff who feel proud of their university, and take responsibility for its development. It’s brilliant to see that our employees have responded to the Bloomberg Best Employers survey so positively, and our place on the list rewards the hard work of colleagues across the University to help staff add value and feel valued.”
