Business School earns national shortlisting for small‑business support
London South Bank University (LSBU) Business School has received national recognition for its work supporting small businesses and fostering enterprise.
The School has been shortlisted for the Outstanding Support for Small Business category in the SBC Excellence Awards 2026, a nomination that places it among a small number of institutions highlighted for sector‑leading SME engagement.
The awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of Small Business Charter (SBC) accredited business schools. The SBC is a national accreditation awarded by small businesses to business schools that excel in supporting small businesses, student entrepreneurship and local economic growth.
This nomination follows the School’s recent successful reaccreditation of the SBC, retaining the award for a further three years after assessors commended its “impressive” breadth of activity. It also comes shortly after the Business School’s shortlisting for Business School of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards, adding further weight to its growing national profile.
The judging panel for the SBC Excellence Awards brings together prominent sector leaders, including Sarah Willingham (entrepreneur and former Dragon’s Den investor), Ann Francke OBE (CEO, Chartered Management Institute) and Professor Gavin Jack (Dean, University of Edinburgh Business School).
Professor Petko Kusev, Head of LSBU Business School, said: “This shortlisting is an important recognition of the work that our teams have been doing to support small businesses and nurture entrepreneurial talent. It reflects the progress that we have made as a School and the growing confidence that the sector has in the direction we are taking. I am incredibly proud of our colleagues, our partners, and our students, whose dedication has made this possible.”
The Small Business Charter Excellence Awards offer the opportunity for business schools that hold the SBC accreditation to demonstrate specialist activity that delivers sustainable impact and legacy.
The final winners will be announced on 15 June 2026 at the Small Business Charter Annual Conference and Summer Reception, held this year at LSBU.
