LSBU Business School was nominated for its work to empower communities, locally and globally. The School is also recognised for its world-leading research, which shapes policy, drives innovation and directly informs teaching across disciplines. This ensures that students benefit from a research-informed, applied curriculum that prepares them to address real-world challenges.
In the last three years, the School supported 500 SME leaders through the Help to Grow scheme and trained 200 third-sector CEOs through its Inclusive Leadership programme. Students in the University’s Business Solutions Centre have supported more than 100 businesses in consultancy projects with partners, including local councils. Last year, the amount of internships available to Master’s students in the School nearly doubled.
The nomination follows several years of accolades for the Business School. It ranked joint first in the UK for value-added (The Guardian, 2024) and second in London for academic support in economics (NSS, 2023).
Professor Petko Kusev, Head, LSBU Business School, said: “Our inclusive approach spans a decolonised curriculum, embedding employability into our student experience, and offering sector-specific leadership programmes. Our world-class research underpins these initiatives, ensuring our teaching is both academically rigorous and applied to the needs of business and society.
“It is fantastic for the School to be recognised for delivering business education that’s both high impact and inclusive.”
The THE Awards are held in November.
