We understand you have questions regarding our IT systems and how it's affecting you and your studies. Here's an outline of what happened, what we're doing right now and the support that's available to you.

What happened?

Just before Christmas, we were targeted in a cyber-incident, meaning a lot of our IT services had to be reduced drastically at short notice to protect you and our systems. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we investigate with the relevant authorities and law enforcement. There is no evidence that the confidentiality of staff or student data has been affected, but we want to ensure maximum safety and peace of mind throughout this process, which is why we're bringing our services back online gradually.

When will everything be back to normal?

Moodle is now available for all staff and students to use. We sent you an email on Tuesday 26 January with the details. Go to on any internet browser and log in with your new LSBU password. If you haven’t yet changed your LSBU password you will need to do that before you will be able to get into Moodle (details in Staying safe online below).

Your course teams have been sending you your learning materials through Teams and other routes while we didn’t have access.

Don’t forget you can still access all our Library and Learning Resources and e-resources can be found via our Alternative E-resource Access Page plus O365, Teams and Emails remain unaffected.

Staying safe online

From Monday 11 January you'll need to reset your password to get access to your LSBU IT accounts. We sent you an email on Thursday 7 January 2020 with details on how to reset your password. Thanks again for your ongoing support. Please contact Student IT Support if you need any help with resetting your password.

What about my uni work?

We have extended the deadlines for assessments and assignments to be handed in. Your course teams will be been in touch with you directly about the timelines for your assessments and assignments, so please do check your LSBU emails.

I need support?

Our support services have got your back. You’ll find contact information below. The team are working hard to support all of our students whilst our systems are down. We aim to get back to all enquires within 3 working days.
