Once you have explored your options and found the right course for you, it is time to prepare your application. Find out more about the steps involved in applying below.

Find answers to common questions about the application process, key deadlines and what happens after you apply.
How do I apply? (UK and EU students with settled status)
The application process depends on the type of course you're applying for.
Full-time undergraduate courses → Apply through UCAS using LSBU institution code L75, with the UCAS course code, which can be found on the course page.
Part-time courses → Apply directly to LSBU. Some courses may have additional application requirements, so check your course page for details.
Apprenticeships → Apply direct to LSBU. Before applying, check that you meet the eligibility requirements for your chosen apprenticeship and that you have an employer sponsor to support your studies.
How do I apply? (International and EU students without settled status)
- International (non-UK) students and EU students without settled or pre-settled status can apply directly to LSBU.
- Full guidance on the application process is available on our International How to Apply page.
- Entry requirements and application instructions may vary by course, so check your chosen course page for details.
- If you require a Tier 4 General Student visa to enter or remain in the UK, you may not be eligible for part-time study.
- Apprenticeship courses may have additional eligibility requirements.

Step 1: Complete your application
- Enter your personal details and qualifications in UCAS Hub.
- Choose the courses you'd like to apply for.
- Write and review your personal statement.
- Apply by 30 June 2026 to avoid entering Clearing.
Step 2: Add your reference and submit
- Ask a teacher, tutor or employer to provide your reference.
- Friends and family cannot act as referees.
- Pay the UCAS application fee.
- Submit your completed application through UCAS.
When should I apply?
For September 2026 entry:
- 30 June 2026 – Apply by this date to be considered before Clearing.
- 1 July 2026 – UCAS Extra closes.
- 5 July 2026 – Clearing opens.
- August 2026 – Exam results and Confirmation.
- September 2026 – Courses begin.
Applying for 2027 entry?
- UCAS applications typically open in September 2026.
- Register your interest to be the first to hear about courses, Open Days and application updates.

What is UCAS Extra?
UCAS Extra gives you another chance to apply if you've used all five of your UCAS choices and aren't holding any offers.
Who can use UCAS Extra?
You can use UCAS Extra if:
- You've received decisions from all five choices.
- You've declined any offers you've received.
- You're not currently holding an offer.
How does it work?
- Search for a course with vacancies.
- Add one choice through UCAS Extra.
- The university reviews your application.
- If you're successful, you'll receive an offer.

- Apply before Clearing opens.
- Receive a decision quickly.
- Secure your place sooner.
- Keep your university plans on track.

What is Clearing?
Clearing allows students to apply for courses with available places after the main UCAS application deadline.
You may be eligible if you:
- Apply after 30 June.
- Don't hold any offers.
- Don't meet your offer conditions.
- Decide to change your plans.
Why consider Clearing?
- Explore courses with vacancies.
- Receive support from our admissions team.
- Secure a place for September entry.
Once you've submitted your application, our admissions team will review it and consider your qualifications, personal statement and any other information required for your chosen course.
What happens next?
- We'll review your application and assess whether you meet the course requirements.
- We'll make a decision and update your UCAS Hub.
- You may receive an offer, which could be conditional or unconditional.
- Accept your offer through UCAS if you decide LSBU is right for you.
- Get ready to start – we'll keep in touch with information about enrolment, accommodation and Welcome Week.
How long will it take?
Application processing times can vary throughout the year, but we'll aim to provide a decision as quickly as possible.
We want every applicant to have the support they need to succeed at university.
Disability , Dyslexia and Health: If you have a disability, dyslexia, medical or mental health condition please tell us on your application form. Our Disability and Dyslexia Support (DDS) will send you a questionnaire to understand how your disability affects your ability to study and what reasonable adjustments, such as extra time or enlarged text, you need to support your studies.
If you did not indicate you had a disability at the time of applying and want to do so now, contact DDS on 020 7815 6405.
If you have a disability there is additional government funding available through the Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA).

Need help with your personal statement?
Your personal statement is your opportunity to demonstrate your passion for your chosen subject and showcase the skills and experiences that make you a strong applicant. It should be no more than 4,000 characters.
What to Include:
- The Hook: Start with why your chosen subject interests you and what inspired your choice.
- The Evidence: Share your skills, achievements, and any paid or voluntary work experience.
- Transferable Skills: Explain how your hobbies and interests make you a great fit for the course.
- The Closing Statement: End strongly with your career plans or your reasons for wanting a degree.
- The Final Check: Print it off and proofread it. Ask a friend or family member to check for mistakes before you hit submit.
