AI can change processes, decision-making, roles, skills and relationships across an organisation. Leaders therefore need to understand not only how a system works, but how its introduction affects people, operations, organisational risk and the wider ecosystem.
This module develops the practical leadership capability required to implement AI-enabled organisational change responsibly.
You will learn how to assess workforce impacts, including reskilling, redeployment and role redesign, and consider the potential impact of AI adoption on suppliers and digitally excluded groups.
You will develop approaches to organisational AI risk management, audit, compliance, incident response and long-term monitoring, including the management of bias, model drift and security vulnerabilities.
The programme also develops your ability to communicate AI risks and opportunities to technical specialists, employees, executives, non-technical stakeholders and regulators.
Build the capability to evaluate AI solutions, make defensible procurement decisions and establish the governance, assurance and oversight needed for responsible AI adoption.
Explore change-leadership principles for AI-enabled transformation and the factors required for sustainable AI delivery.
You will examine workforce-impact methodologies, reskilling, redeployment and role redesign and begin defining the organisational transformation that will underpin your capstone.
Learn how to undertake an Algorithmic Impact Assessment and assess the wider implications of AI deployment.
The session considers equality and employment-law issues, impacts on suppliers and digitally excluded groups, and evidence relating to fairness and transparency.
A structured two-to-three-week workplace application period separates the two teaching blocks.
You will apply the methods learned in Block 1 to your own organisational change scenario, developing your Algorithmic Impact Assessment and Workforce Impact Assessment and gathering organisational evidence for your transformation roadmap.
Develop approaches to managing AI once it enters live organisational operation.
You will explore organisational AI risk management, governance of deployed AI, audit requirements, assurance, compliance documentation and crisis-management approaches.
Learn how organisations should monitor AI over time.
You will examine model drift, emerging bias, security vulnerabilities and sustainable AI operation alongside communication strategies for technical, non-technical, executive and regulatory audiences.
Experience the realities of organisational AI risk through an immersive multi-party incident-response exercise.
The four-hour scenario brings together the strategic, workforce, operational, governance, regulatory and communication dimensions of the module, followed by structured debrief and viva preparation.

The first two-day block focuses on anticipating and planning AI-enabled change. This is followed by a two-to-three-week workplace application period.
The second two-day block focuses on managing live deployment, operational risk, monitoring, audit and communication.
A separate immersive incident-response day then brings together the learning through a realistic organisational scenario.
Following the final teaching day, you enter a three-week capstone development period supported through online LSBU activity, peer review and workplace engagement.
Your final output is a Transformation Portfolio based on an AI-enabled organisational change that you are leading or could realistically lead.

The purpose is to leave both you and your organisation with a practical framework for responsible AI implementation rather than an abstract academic exercise.
Transformation Portfolio – 80%
Approximately 3,500 words covering your own AI-enabled organisational change scenario.
Viva – 20%
A 30-minute oral examination in which you explain and defend your approach.
Successful completion provides the Skills England apprenticeship-unit outcome and 20 LSBU Level 5 credits.
The module carries 20 LSBU Level 5 credits and 200 notional learning hours.
The module develops capability directly relevant to leaders responsible for organisational implementation and transformation.
The validated LSBU descriptor highlights relevance to Chief Operating Officers, Directors of Transformation, HR Directors and senior operational leaders with responsibility for AI-enabled change.

We understand that you’re in the driver’s seat of your career, which is why we’re committed to matching your passion and energy every step of the way.
Participants must be employed and aged 19 or above and hold a leadership position with sufficient autonomy to deliver technological change and inform investment decisions.
Employer endorsement and an appropriate workplace context are required, together with a workplace sponsor who can support application of the learning.
There are no formal minimum prior academic qualifications.

The validated LSBU module carries 20 Level 5 credits and comprises 200 notional learning hours, including 30 hours of live tutor-led teaching, 70 hours of workplace implementation, 60 hours of independent study and 40 hours of asynchronous/VLE learning.

Maximum apprenticeship-unit funding: £750 per eligible learner.
The unit is funded through the Growth and Skills Levy using the employer’s Apprenticeship Service account. Eligible learners do not pay the training cost themselves.
