As the beginning of your course approaches, we understand that you might be looking for ways to enrich your knowledge and experience over the summer. Our academic team has put together a list of recommended activities, reading materials, and resources to prepare you for your studies.

- In the Blink of an Eye" by Walter Murch – A must-read on the philosophy and technique of film editing.

-"The Technique of Film Editing" by Karel Reisz and Gavin Millar – A foundational text with practical insights.

- Sight & Sound Magazine – Stay up to date with critical perspectives on cinema, often includes interviews with editors and filmmakers.

- Broadcast Now and Televisual – Industry publications that cover trends, gear, and companies in post-production and UK television.

Follow and join

- BFI Future Film Network – Designed for young creatives starting in film.

- Join ScreenSkills – For access to UK industry resources, training and potential bursaries.

- Join online communities – Like r/editors and r/Filmmakers on Reddit, or post groups on Facebook such as Editors UK
