The Governance Hot 100 Awards

Boglarka Radi explains what the awards are:

This award is well- known and an industry favourite commending the 100 most innovative and influential governance professionals representing all levels of experience across each industry sector throughout the UK. Our 3 Business School winners share their experience and what this means for them.

Josh Gallienne – Future Leaders

Josh, who graduated from LSBU Business School in 2020, achieved a distinction in his degree and he was then promoted to Senior Manager at his company.

He shares his experience of the MSc Corporate Governance degree at LSBU:

Before and during studying for my MSc Corporate Governance at LSBU, I led a team that predominantly dealt with companies and trusts for private clients with a variety of different backgrounds and entrepreneurial activities. Since graduating, I have retained some of these leadership responsibilities, but I am also now working with the board of directors of PraxisIFM UK, implementing policies and procedures and managing the operations of the Trust and Corporate department. I also assist with overseeing and developing the key business and strategic objectives of the company while assuming the lead client relationship role for many of the clients I previously managed.

The awards commend the 100 most innovative, influential and creative governance professionals representing all levels of experience, across each industry sector, throughout the UK and the Channel Islands, so I’m very proud to have been one of the winners.

I was a winner of the 'Future Leaders' category which is described as being 'for those that demonstrate the skills required to become a Head of Department within the next 5-10 years'.

For me, this award means recognition for my hard work. I've been with my current employer, PraxisIFM, since 2012 and since graduating I've been promoted from Assistant Manager to Senior Manager, so it feels like validation for my contributions to corporate governance. Both this and graduating with my MSc has given me the confidence to continue to grow and push myself and my career.

Boglarka Radi – Social Impact

Boglarka, who has 5 articles published by the Governance Institute in 2020 during her dissertation, graduated from LSBU Business School in 2021. Since then, a Russian journal noticed her work and asked her for a special article which they translated into Russian, which has been published in a Russian governance journal in December 2020. She now works as an Assistant Company Secretary for a listed business.

Boglarka shares her experience of the awards:

I believe people who have read my articles which were published on The Chartered Governance Institute's website (formerly known as ICSA) nominated me for the award. I only received notification via email a week prior to the announcement that I have been chosen as one of the winners and was asking for my photograph.

I won in the 'Social Impact' category due to my research and articles on governance and modern slavery topic. It means that have positively influenced culture, sustainability & environmental impact within the profession. As you can see on the link, the judges are well-respected professionals, all of them working in high profile roles and large businesses.

It is a fantastic feeling to be acknowledged. Making it into the HOT 100 is a validation of my commitment to enhancing the impact and reputation of the governance profession. Winners have been chosen by a judging panel comprising experienced governance professionals and industry experts. The award was shared on LinkedIn and other social media which was seen by thousands of people. I am very proud to be one of the 100 governance professionals for 2021.

Joe McManus – Technical Expert

Current LSBU Business School student, Joe McManus also won the Technical Expert category.

MSc Corporate Governance at LSBU Business School

Uly Ma, Visiting Fellow at LSBU Business School talks about our MSc Corporate Governance degree:

I think the MSc Corporate Governance degree offer the students a broader view than just corporate governance and compliance- they received a broader view of business and how their proximity to a company's board can contribute to the company paying attention to sustainable growth, gaining value not just for shareholders but also stakeholders in general.

The broad range of topics include for example, boardroom dynamics and strategic directions showed the breadth of the degree and how our students help companies to focus on ESG issues (Environment/ Social/ Governance - a hot topic currently) as well as managing the Covid lockdown and planning for a post-Covid future.
