FREELANCING PROGRAMME FAQS

Who is the Freelancing Programme for?

The South Bank Starters Freelancing Programme is open to all LSBU students and graduates who are interested in freelancing, setting up a side hustle, or being their own boss.

If you're exploring freelancing as a way to make a bit of extra money or building your own full-time business, these workshops will help you develop the skills and confidence to get started. All individuals and all stages are welcome!

Do I need an idea or already be freelancing?

No! No business idea or any previous freelancing experience is needed to join the South Bank Starters Freelancing Programme. The workshops will help you identify your skills, explore opportunities, and understand how to turn your knowledge and experience into a freelance service that clients will value.

I am already freelancing; is this programme for me?

Yes! Bring your experiences and learnings to the South Bank Starters Freelancing Programme. The workshops can help you strengthen your business by developing practical skills, applying new knowledge, and building connections with peers and industry experts.

Do I need to attend every workshop?

Each workshop is designed to be valuable on its own; you're welcome to attend the sessions that interest you most.

Or you can complete all six workshops to build a strong foundation for your freelance business, earn a South Bank Starters Freelancing Certificate, and become eligible to apply for additional start-up funding.

What do I get by joining the workshops?

Join the South Bank Starters Freelancing Programme (all six workshops or just the ones you are interested in), and you will walk away with practical advice from industry experts, activities that you can apply straight away to your idea, templates or plans to help you move your freelance business forward, and the opportunity to connect with experienced speakers and other aspiring freelancers.

If you complete all six workshops, you'll also receive a South Bank Starters Freelancing Certificate and become eligible to apply for additional start-up funding.

I need more help getting started.

We are fully committed to removing barriers for people with additional needs, disability, learning differences, or medical conditions. If you need help registering for the workshops or learning about freelancing, please email starters@lsbu.ac.uk.
