11 June 2019

This week (Friday 7 June), LSBU jumped ten places to achieve its highest ever ranking of 68 out of 121 universities in the Guardian League Table 2020.

Since 2017, LSBU has risen a total of 24 places in the Guardian’s League table, attributing this success to its high quality teaching and outstanding employability results.

The Guardian ranks LSBU third overall in the UK for graduate career outcomes as 88 per cent of students are in graduate level employment or further study six months after graduation.

LSBU is also currently ranked in third place for social work and seventh place for accountancy and finance.

Professor David Phoenix, Vice-Chancellor of LSBU, said: “I am delighted that we are continuing to climb the league tables. It’s a great testament to the commitment and hard work of our staff and students that we have achieved this result.

“Our focus across the whole of LSBU is to deliver high quality, applied education – which ensures that our students graduate not just with professional and technical knowledge relevant to today’s employers, but with the skills and experience of how to apply that expertise in the workplace. Our ranking at #3 in the UK for graduate career success shows how well that focus is working. As a result, LSBU graduates are able to go on to achieve extraordinary careers.”

The Guardian University Guide is in its 20th year of publication, and is highly regarded within the sector. The rankings are based on a complex compilation of data related to institutional performance and student outcomes in each subject offered by a UK university.
