South Bank Racing go through the gears to secure sponsorship support
More than 25 London South Bank University (LSBU) students who are part of the South Bank Racing team will be taking part in the Formula Student (FS) Championship at Silverstone in July 2023.
LSBU students took part for the first time last year, placing 42nd overall and are aiming to pass scrutineering this year before the major car racing event at Silverstone. The LSBU South Bank Racing team have developed a new car which they plan to unveil in May/June 2023, which will reveal the result of the hard work the student design and engineering teams have been doing for the past year.
The student-led team brings together LSBU students from all educational backgrounds, from the School of Engineering to the School of Business to the School of the Arts and Creative Industries. This team has supported the building of a great car, producing a YouTube documentary series, and giving student engineers the chance to learn new skills.
The LSBU South Bank Racing team have welcomed new sponsors, such as Get it Made who are equipped to provide the LSBU team with state of the art 3D printing, and multi-axis CNC Machining for precision engineering. South Bank Racing sponsors play a vital role in the projected success for Silverstone 2023. Get It Made have helped South Bank Racing by machining key car parts such as wheel hubs alongside the front and rear uprights.
South Bank Racing Team Principal Deion Coe, a final-year LSBU student in BEng Mechanical Engineering said, “We are making great strides this year to develop a more competitive car and fine-tuning parameters to suit the Formula Student UK events and track”. While leading the growing team from three of LSBU’s eight Schools he aims, “to bulk out the team in other areas to grow a brand image and provide more opportunities outside of engineering for team members.”
The team will race for the second time with the improved car at the FS Championship at Silverstone from 21st-23rd July 2023.
The South Bank Racing team thanks new and renewing sponsors; Levels, Go2Games, EPlan, Easy Composites, 3DConnexion, Zirotec Group, Billy’s Vehicle Transport & Recovery, Demon Tweeks, Pro Alloy, SHD Composites, AVO, RS Components and Get It Made.
