Professor Marcantonio Spada, London South Bank University’s (LSBU) Head of Psychology and Deputy Lead academic at the University’s Centre for Addictive Behaviours Research, has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of the globally renowned addictions journal, Addictive Behaviours. He takes over from Professor Peter Miller, founder of the journal and Editor-in-Chief since 1975.

Professor Ian Albery and Dr Antony Moss, from LSBU’s School of Applied Sciences, will also be joining the journal as editorial board members.

Professor Spada, who will take up the post as Editor-in-Chief from 1 January 2018, said: "It is a tremendous honour for me, and a considerable accolade for LSBU, to have been appointed Editor-in-Chief of such an influential and prestigious global addictions journal with over forty years of history of publishing seminal research in the field.”

“While excited about this appointment, I am very aware of the responsibilities that the role of Editor-in-Chief entails. I will do my very best, together with the editorial board, to ensure that the journal’s international standards are maintained and strengthened by continuing to publish original articles addressing a wide range of topics about various addictions.”

Professor Spada obtained his PhD from the University of Manchester and has worked as an educator, researcher and clinician in the field of addictive behaviours for over 20 years.
