LSBU graduates retain top spot for earnings among London modern universities
London South Bank University (LSBU) graduates have once again achieved the highest earnings among comparable London modern universities.
Data from the latest Longitudinal Education Outcomes (LEO) shows LSBU graduates outperforming those from every other London modern university at every stage measured, from one year after graduation through to five.
A year after graduating, LSBU graduates have a median salary of £31,500, placing the University 15th nationally out of 176 institutions, up two places on the previous year.
Released by the Department of Education, the LEO data tracks graduate earnings at one, three and five years after course completion.
The driver behind these outcomes is the University's approach to student development, which is built on partnership rather than a one-size-fits-all model of support.
From the start of their course, students identify their own development needs, strengths and goals through a Personalised Development Plan, discussed with personal tutors throughout their studies; around 80% of students actively use the plan.
Career skills are embedded across every degree, with progress tracked against personal and professional goals throughout, while teaching is adjusted in response to student feedback — for example through extended independent study time or additional digital skills support where students identify it as a priority.
LSBU's approach to support is designed to work regardless of a student's starting point. Whatever their background or qualifications on entry, the large majority of LSBU graduates move into sustained employment or further study within a year of finishing their degree — part of a wider institutional focus on reducing inequality that has seen LSBU ranked among the top five universities in the UK, and top 20 globally, for reducing inequalities in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026.
Professor Tony Moss, Pro Vice Chancellor Students and Learners at LSBU, said: "These results reflect something we take seriously at LSBU: that every student's path to success looks different and that graduate success shouldn't depend on where someone started.
“Through outstanding education, personalised support and career skills built into every degree, we make sure every student has what they need to succeed — and seeing that translate into consistently strong outcomes for our graduates is exactly what this approach is designed to achieve."
