LSBU celebrates graduating students
London South Bank University (LSBU) has commenced its autumn graduations, this week celebrating the over 1,000 graduating students from the Faculty of Arts and Human SciencesFor the second year running, the ceremonies are held in the prestigious and impressive surroundings of the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre - just a stone's throw from the University's Southwark campus.
A number of high-performing graduates will also be awarded special prizes for their outstanding achievements on their courses.
Honorary awards will also be conferred to a number of eminent names, recognising their contributions to LSBU and to the worlds of science, arts, the built environment and business.
Honorary award recipients include:
- Judith Parmela Kelly OBE - Artistic Director of the Southbank Centre in London Britain's largest cultural institution.
- Greg Searle MBE - LSBU alumni and Olympic gold medal winner
- Michael Greg Wilson OBE - producer and screenwriter of several James Bond Movies, including Tomorrow Never Dies, Casino Royale and Skyfall
- Jane Cavanagh - founder of one of the UK's biggest games publishers in a predominantly male-oriented universe, with her company Sci having published over 100 games
The next graduation ceremony will be for students from the Faculty of Engineering, Science and the Built Environment on 14 October, followed by the Faculty of Business on 21 October, and finally the Faculty of Health and Social Care on 28 October.
