LSBU and Guy’s and St Thomas’ deepen partnership to support health and care workforce
London South Bank University (LSBU) has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, strengthening a long‑standing partnership focused on education, skills and real‑world impact in health and care.
The agreement was signed on Monday 20 April at London South Bank Technical College by Paul Kett, LSBU Group CEO and Vice‑Chancellor, and Amanda Pritchard, CEO of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
The MoU sets out plans for closer collaboration across education, workforce development, research and innovation, helping to address ongoing workforce challenges and support the future health and care system.
At the heart of the partnership is LSBU Group’s commitment to profession‑focused education. Working with clinicians and workforce leaders at Guy’s and St Thomas’, LSBU will continue to shape courses that reflect modern healthcare practice, including digital innovation, community‑based care and interdisciplinary working.
The agreement also supports closer collaboration on placements, apprenticeships and continuing professional development, alongside new approaches to learning such as simulation and experiential training.
Amanda Pritchard, Chief Executive of Guy’s and St Thomas’, said: “Our organisations have a long and successful partnership, developed over many years. This MoU describes some exciting new ambitions for our work together as healthcare changes and develops, built on our shared commitment to inclusion and widening access.
“It was really inspiring when we visited the college to see young people practicing their clinical and technical skills, who are looking for a healthcare career in an organisation like Guy's and St Thomas'.
“This next stage of our partnership presents us with a fantastic opportunity to provide the next generation of NHS staff with the skills they need to deliver new and innovative models of care and to shape the health service of the future."
Paul Kett, LSBU Group CEO and Vice-Chancellor, said: “This partnership strongly reflects our commitment to delivering real‑world impact through education, skills and collaboration. Everything we do is focused on preparing people for professional success, supporting key sectors and making a positive difference in the communities we serve.
“As anchor institutions in south London, we share a responsibility to support inclusive growth, workforce resilience and better outcomes for our communities. This agreement builds on a strong relationship and gives us a clear platform to do that in a more joined‑up and ambitious way.”
