Graham recently accepted his award at a ceremony held in Central London.
The GP Deanery awards are presented annually to candidates the Deanery considers to have distinguished themselves as teachers of medical practice and Health education.
This year Graham Carr will have fulfilled a 21-year long career as a health lecturer at LSBU. He has also just completed 12 years in post as Medical Programme Director for the South East district of the GP Deanery covering Sussex, Surrey and Kent - a position from which he is due to retire this month.
On receiving his award, Graham said: “It is a real pleasure for me, as a non-medical general practitioner, to be shown appreciation in this way by a fellow profession. Being given this award clearly reflects the importance of inter-professional working and how knowledge is transferable between the different healthcare professions.”
Sue Mullaney, Pro Dean for Pre-registration Education and Quality at LSBU’s School of Health and Social Care (HSC), said: “I am thrilled to hear that Graham has been nominated for this teaching award by the General Practice Deanery. The GP Deanery awards celebrate the outstanding contribution that general medical practitioners and teachers bring to the profession and the impact their hard work has on those they teach and develop as nurses.
“Graham is an exemplary teacher - a skill he has consistently demonstrated throughout his 21 years teaching in our School of Health and Social Care. We are very lucky to have a teacher of his calibre bringing forward our students at LSBU.”
