Chiropractic student wins ‘best new delegate’ at World Congress of Chiropractic Students AGM
First year chiropractic students Alison McLuckie and James West are off to a flying start in their chiropractic degree. This year Alison and James established the LSBU chapter of the World Congress of Chiropractic Students (WCCS). Both secured scholarships from chiropractic organisations in UK including the Royal College of Chiropractors to attend and present at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) at CQUniversity in Brisbane, Australia.
“Having just finished my first year, I had never been to a chiropractic conference before. I was completely blown away by how amazing the experience was. Attending this AGM has taught me so much about chiropractic and introduced me to some of the best people I have ever met,” James reflected.
Alison won ‘best new delegate’ and accepted a position on the WCCS legislative committee. She said: “The World Congress of Chiropractic Students is a truly amazing organisation. We were supported and encouraged through the process. I highly encourage chiropractic students to become involved in their chapters for the WCCS and become part of the family."
LSBU runs the only chiropractic degree in London and the LSBU chapter of WCCS opens additional international channels and experience for students. LSBU Senior Lecturer Mark Thomas agrees: “The chiropractic profession is an international community of physicians where we all continually learn from each other. We’re so proud of Alison and James for taking the initiative to establish this chapter because they embrace this international perspective and provide a role model for classmates and those aspiring to join the profession.”
James added: “I would encourage every chiropractic student to get involved in their school’s chapter. It is too valuable to miss out on.”
