LSBU Student Theatre Company Presents: Rhinoceros
By Eugene Ionesco, in a version by Zinnie Harris. Directed by Tim Lee.
A leafy London suburb is besieged by one roaring citizen who becomes a rhinoceros and proceeds to trample on the social order. At the local cafe, people argue over what they saw. Was it really a rhino, or just fake news?
As more citizens are transformed into rhinoceroses, the trampling becomes overwhelming, and more and more citizens become rhinoceroses. One sane man, Berenger, faces a desperate choice: take a stand against the armoured brutes or change his form and identity and join the mindless herd? What will his refusal to conform cost him?
Hailed as "masterful and downright hilarious," this outrageous, comedic story of a civilised community shifting from defiance to compliance is chillingly resonant and riotously funny.
Join the LSBU Student Theatre Company for an evening's thought provoking entertainment.
