Accommodation and social life
Discover how we're adjusting our accommodation services, as well as creating new and engaging social events to welcome you to LSBU.
We understand that in these uncertain times you might have concerns. Our dedicated halls of residence team have your health, safety and wellbeing at the heart of everything they do. We will continue to take applications for accommodation on campus, and students who secure accommodation will be able to move in normally in September. Find out more about our accommodation, our allocation policy, and how to apply.
We look forward to running our accommodation inductions online, helping to inform you about life in halls. We’re planning to create a social community for students in our accommodation, which will include:
- Support by Resident Life Ambassadors, who will deliver a mix of online activities and ‘bubble’ activities in halls.
- Welcome activities to help you settle in, including face-to-face welcomes (with safety considerations in place).
- Online social communities to help you keep in touch.
- Weekly open drop-in session with halls management to enhance the experience of living on-campus.
Our Accommodation Team are working on answers for other questions you may have about student accommodation. For urgent queries, you can contact the team by email.
Social life at LSBU
The Students’ Union is creating an exciting social programme for Welcome Week to help you settle into life at LSBU. Options are being explored for how this may run digitally, or on-campus. Check out our Welcome pages for further details.
LSBU has over 50 sports clubs and societies for you to get involved with. We’re exploring how you can participate in these groups from September onwards, based on social distancing guidelines. To explore our various sports clubs and societies, visit the Students’ Union website.
The student groups and the whole year group were fantastic. I will miss this university so much. Thank you everyone.Sarah Nekesa, BA Education Studies
The Academy of Sport is committed to providing a full remote fitness offer. You’ll be able to enjoy live social media and online fitness classes, coaching advice, skills development activities and virtual group sessions. During Welcome Week, new students can join online ‘Come & Try’ sessions, as well as join the Academy of Sport. New first-year students will continue to receive our free membership for one year.
Depending on social distancing guidelines, some on-campus facilities may be accessible later in the academic year. Find out more details about the Academy of Sport.
