This Business Management degree with Travel and Tourism considers that the impacts of travel and tourism spread far beyond its direct benefits in terms of economics and employment; there are also indirect benefits through supply chain linkages to other sectors. And because of its global reach physically, economically and culturally the impact of the industry has a major role to play in not only supporting economic development but also working towards the United Nations sustainable development goals. Travel and tourism have a particular role to play in employing and empowering disadvantaged groups and successfully impacting sustainable development. The decisions of tourism managers have wide reaching implications for business and society.
This programme will critique the key activities in the private sector, including areas such as tour operators, airlines and travel companies, as well as public bodies, such as local authorities, and not-for-profit bodies, such as tourist boards, destination management organisations and other agencies. However, this course will embrace wider societal issues relating to the sustainability, nature, impacts and the meanings and consequences of the development of travel and tourism. The roots of travel and tourism lie within the remit of business and management. Therefore, the course will offer academic critique coupled with an applied understanding of business management issues within the travel and tourism industry.
This programme has been designed with your future in mind; developed with input from businesses, our courses ensure you gain the expertise you need to succeed in the modern world. By studying with us you will develop knowledge and skills across key business disciplines, focusing on the study of organisations, management, and the changing environment in which they operate.
On your journey with us you will interact with our strong network of professional bodies, industry specialists and alumni; have the opportunity for fully supported entrepreneurial activity; enjoy an innovative blended learning approach to support your needs and develop your key digital, analytical and coaching skills along the way.
