Evidence of Existence: An exploration of black British sexual and political identity, 2009 - 2010
Based on interviews, the research explored the intersection of race and sexuality within a socio-political British contextThis research sought to fill the gap in our knowledge related to Black British sexual identity.
Although we have a measure of knowledge related to Black British sexuality, a vast amount of academic research in this area is closely linked to the study of HIV/AID and drugs use.
Whilst the researchers recognised the importance of some of this research there is a great need for a broader and more varied understanding of Black British gay people.
Thus the research focused not only on the social and health challenges faced by Black gay people, but also on the joys and triumphs they experience.
