Cameron Ross, BSc Product Design
"LSBU was a great choice for me," he says. "I'm glad I didn't go to a garden university. In London there's always something going on—and having my university right in the middle of it all was a really great experience."
Like many students leaving school or college, Cameron hadn't totally decided what he wanted to study at university.
"I originally applied to study computer-aided design (CAD), then in my first year of product design almost left to study graphic design, then I spent the next year wishing I had studied paramedic science," he says.
"I'm glad I stuck to my guns though. I'm really happy with where my career is heading now."
Cameron spent his third 'sandwich' year on a placement at Hallmark, one of the world's largest manufacturers of greetings cards and personal stationery.
"I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to design my own licensed product, a Mickey and Minnie Mouse card for Valentine's Day. I was thrilled when the card got the highest sales figures for any Disney-themed Valentine's Day card sold in WHSmith in 2013.
"I now have experience in a niche product development area—an industry worth millions of pounds a year. Plus, I now know how to communicate with a variety of companies and departments based around the world."
