Transport Engineering and Planning Group

This research has a strong focus on infrastructure and build concerns of today's transport engineering

The group was established in summer 2010. It has a strong academic bond with the School of The Built Environment and its Division of Civil and Building Services Engineering. It maintains strong focus around four central themes:

  • experimental analysis of factors which affect infrastructure design
  • assessment and modelling of perceptions of risk and effort as they influence mode and route choice
  • development and implementation of prospective study methodologies for assessment of transport interventions
  • longitudinal analysis of transport data sets for monitoring purposes

Collaborations and partnerships

The group has undertaken work for a number of clients including: Department for Transport, Swedish Government (via the Swedish Road and Traffic Research Laboratory), Sustrans and Transport for London.

In line with LSBU's fundamental beliefs, the group welcomes any opportunity for academic/industrial collaboration. Not only do they enhance the academic experience of all involved but any beneficial findings are reformed into course content for the benefit of our wider student body.

Past collaborations have included multidisciplinary research networks, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships and consultancy activities
