Zoë Leadley-Meade is a Senior Lecturer and the Course Director for BA (Hons) Education Studies. She leads the Constructing Childhood, Alternative Educational Setting Placement and Barriers to Learning modules on the BA (Hons) Education Studies course as part of the undergraduate education programme. Zoë also teaches on BA (Hons) Education Top Up and Initial Teacher Education courses.

Zoë has a PGCE in Secondary English Education from Goldsmiths, University of London and an MA in Education from London Southbank University.

Prior to joining LSBU in 2015, Zoë had accumulated seven years of experience as both an English and Media Studies teacher in London secondary schools. She has taught across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 as well as taking on the roles of Second in Charge of English and Teacher in Charge of Media Studies where she specialised in developing a creative and engaging curriculum to allow all students to succeed, which is her area of interest. Zoë has also mentored PGCE and NQTs and delivered CPD sessions.

Zoë’s research interests are focussed on creative pedagogy as a tool for empowering students, as well as the experiences of LGBT youth and same sex parents in educational contexts.

For her MA dissertation Zoë conducted research on the devolution of creative control into the hands of students, which she has shared through university conference presentations. She is currently writing a chapter for a book on diversity, which gives guidance on the inclusion of LGB youth and same sex parents in educational contexts.
