Lecturer in Quantity Surveying

Upeksha Madanayake is a lecturer in Quantity Surveying at LSBU. She is also the course director for Undergraduate Quantity Surveying courses, including Apprenticeships. She completed both her Bachelors (Hons) and Masters from Liverpool John Moores University and joined LSBU in 2019, as a lecturer in Quantity Surveying for the division of Construction Property and Surveying, BEA.
Her main research interests include improving competitive advantage in the construction industry, exploitation of digitalisation in construction and organisational studies, particularly about the culture and structure in construction organisations. Her research focuses on the exploitation of Building Information Modelling (BIM), Big Data Analytics and Internet of things for the competitive advantage in the construction industry. She recognises the potential of digital technologies to improve construction performance and productivity, especially by bridging the digital gap, which is prevailing in the industry.
Her teaching areas include all Quantity Surveying aspects including Tendering, Estimating, Cost planning and control, Project appraisal techniques and Measurement.
