Tim Brown

Senior Research Fellow


Tim is a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Engineering, working primarily on EU and UK Government funded research projects. His interests lie mainly in the fields of refrigeration, heating and cooling, energy use and reduction, the food cold chain, and reducing food waste.

Tim joined LSBU in 2009 after working for 18 years at the Food Refrigeration and Process Engineering Research Centre at the University of Bristol.

Currently Tim is working on the EU Horizon 2020 project CryoHub, which aims to investigate and develop the potential of large scale cryogenic energy storage at refrigerated warehouses and food factories.

Previously at LSBU he worked on EU Framework 7 project FRISBEE and on UK funded research as part of i-STUTE, an interdisciplinary centre for Storage, Transformation and Upgrading of Thermal Energy.

Tim is a Member of the Institute of Refrigeration.

Tim works part-time for LSBU (typically 50% FTE) and is also a Director at Refrigeration Developments and Testing Limited.
