Sarah Maris-Shaw joined London South Bank University as a senior lecture in occupational therapy in 2000. Previously she worked in a variety of mental health clinical settings and managerial roles within the NHS. She attained a PGCHE award while at LSBU and is a senior fellow in the higher education academy.
Sarah completed her Masters in Psychoanalytical Studies at the Tavistock and is a qualified psychodynamic counsellor, having completed her training at the Westminster Pastoral Foundation.
She currently works with families in Southwark, with parental mental health issues and children under five years old.
Her interests lie in perinatal mental health, group work and therapeutic use of self.
Sarah teaches on the pre-registration BSc (Hons) and PgDip/MSc occupational therapy courses at LSBU.
Sarah’s teaching interests include:
- Mental Health
- Group Work
- Communication skills
Interests in perinatal mental health, family work and group skills.
Sarah is a member of the Health and Care Professions Council and the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
She is also the communications representative for the RCOT Specialist Section – Mental Health and committee member of the Perinatal Clinical Forum.
