Mary oversees marketing, recruitment, admissions and collaborations both at home and overseas for the School of Business. She is a qualified accountant and specialises in the areas of audit, assurance and financial accounting.
She obtained a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics from University of Exeter, then went on to train as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Young McClelland Moores (now part of Ernst & Young). After a period of working in the City and Jersey as a Group Accountant rising to Finance Director, she joined the then Borough Polytechnic, now LSBU, in 1991.
She was a Course Director of several courses within the School for over 10 years, including BA (Hons) Accounting & Finance and BA (Hons) Business Studies/Administration, before taking on more School-wide roles. These are mainly in the areas of recruitment and collaborations.
Mary’s main teaching is in the areas of audit, assurance and financial accounting on the BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance course.
Mary is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Mary travels overseas representing the School and University at Recruitment Fairs, mainly in Africa, Asia Pacific, China, India and Europe. During these visits she is always actively seeking possible new and developing existing collaborations on behalf of the School.
Mary has been an External Examiner for various universities over the last 15 years.
She is also involved with the ACCA as a writer for their Computer Based Examinations.
